REMINDER Meeting This Thursday! January 23rd

We had our meeting last week on Jan. 16th and had a great turnout!! Had some good visiting and updates on what was happening in peoples lives. A couple of topics:

If you are interested in helping with supporting those affected by the California fires, if you go to the Rotary International Website and type in California Fires - it will take you to the Club in that area that is working to help support those affected.

Jason, Mark and Cathy are attending the Mid Terms, anyone else interested is welcome!

AOS lives another week.

Sell those Valentine Raffle Tickets! Some have been turned in already. Drawing will be Feb. 13th. All funds raised will support the Barron Co. Food Banks.

Talking about doing a Business After 5 event in the Cumberland area to look for additional members (or a companion club group).

Reminder that we want people to really work hard to get a speaker for their week or coordinate a social activity. If you cannot find one be sure to let the club know. We have resources!

OTHER BUSINESS:

We are still looking for a new Treasurer starting in July 2025. Kathy will be retiring and won't have the same technology availability. If you are interested please let her or any board member know now - you can get a LOT of training in ahead of time.

Announcements:

Recruit Rotary Peace Fellow candidates

Rotary and Rotaract clubs can work with their district Rotary Foundation chair or Rotary Peace Fellowship subcommittee chair to recruit and recommend candidates for Rotary Peace Fellowships. Each year, the Foundation awards up to 130 fellowships to experienced peacebuilders from around the world so they can study at one of our Rotary Peace Centers. The fellows can earn a master’s degree or an advanced professional development certificate in disciplines related to peace and development.

Applications will be accepted from 1 February through 15 May. Peace fellows will begin their studies in 2026 at partner universities in Australia, Japan, Sweden, Türkiye, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Find out who is eligible and how they can apply. The Foundation pays for tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and internship and field-study expenses. Clubs and districts do not need to provide funding in order to recommend fellowship candidates. Use this referral form to have information sent to potential candidates.

Since the Rotary Peace Centers program began in 2002, more than 1,800 fellows have graduated from our programs. They are working in peace and development in more than 140 countries.

Join RI President Stephanie A. Urchick in Istanbul, Türkiye, 20-22 February, to explore groundbreaking ideas and shape a more peaceful future.

GRANTS

The 2026 Programs of Scale grant competition opens soon

It’s not too early for clubs and districts to start working on their concept notes for the 2026 Programs of Scale grant competition, which begins in February 2025. This Rotary Foundation program awards grants of US$2 million and distributes them over three to five years to a successful program that is ready to expand.
