Good Morning on this chilly Tuesday!
Reminding you we have our meeting this week on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7:00 am at Stevies Cafe. Duana hosts with a program surprise!
Last week Clare, Mark and Cathy led us through Part 3 of Members IN-Service. We had a great turnout and everyone stepped up to break out into four different areas to work on the future of our club. The four areas were:
Public Image (Monika, Jason, BJ, Ken and Trudy)
Membership (Jeremy, Cathy and Mark)
Local/International Projects (Kathy R, Dean, Anna, Ken, and Clare)
Club Identity/Health Check (Don, Joe, Jim, and Mike)
Each group will set up a time to work on their own stuff and be prepared to present back to the club on Feb. 8th. If you were not able to make it to the meeting, please contact someone from whatever group you are interested in joining. We really need all of you who are able to help us out. Couple of other points, please feel free to contact Dean, as our president he would be willing to attend any meeting if he is able. Also, if your group would like to do a zoom - Mark can help you out with that.

REMEMBER TO SELL THOSE RAFFLE TICKETS!! This is our second largest fund-raiser. Being a small club we really need to sell all 100 tickets. Thanks!!
We also had a report out - financials are balanced and doing well. No winner on AOS yet. Still need someone to step up as our leader this next year....there is training available and that is coming up soon!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

This note shares 6 points of reflection / discussion and one attachment (Presentations offered by district teams). I realize this note has a lot of information.
District Goal : In three years, we will have 100 new members while maintaining a high retention rate.
Current District Membership is + 24.
24 clubs have a net 0
17 clubs have gained members.
15 clubs have lost members

For the next 6 months, what is your plan for maintaining membership?
Attrition - Things to Consider
Do you want to focus on keeping current members?
Research says - Most people leave because of the club experience.
Step back and look at the meetings from a visitor's perspective.
- Are members engaged in the meeting? Do members have roles?
- Is it fun? Are speakers interesting? Are updates on service provided?
- How do you recognize members?
- Are service options meaningful?
- Are members surveyed about the club activities? Is information used to make changes?
- Do you have a follow-up plan for visitors or speakers?
- How do you promote the value of your club to the community and to the members?
- How do members know the occupations of other members? How do you promote member businesses?
- One reason to join is to increase their business networking. Do you have vocational talks?
- Do you have a panel of members to talk about hot topics in their profession and how they apply the 4 Way Test?
For the next 6 months, what is your plan for increasing membership?
Attraction
Do you want to increase your membership?
- What is your target? Is it age diversity? Is it gender-balance? Is it classifications?
- Look at all the businesses, non-profits, professional organizations in your community.
- Decide who you want to contact. Create a contact list and a follow-up plan.
- Look at membership fees. Should you create a different membership level? Example- 1/2 off for family member
- Should you have different meeting times to accommodate people who want to do service but not meetings?
- How do you promote the value of your club to the community and to the members?
- How do you do on-boarding? How do you engage new members? Mentors? Orientation?

Another District action item is to
promote the value of Rotary. Knowing the value of Rotary helps to ensure members will stay.
The Rotary Foundation is a major value of Rotary. It allows us to expand our ability to do good around the world and in our own communities.
Share the Love is in February. How will you promote this with fun mini-fundraisers or asks?
How will you share the impact of Rotary grants? What speakers will you get? Perhaps clubs with grants would talk about the impact of their grants.

For the next 6 months, what is your plan for promoting the value of clubs?
Another value of Rotary we need to emphasize is the
value of the clubs. What you do creates hope and helps to establish environments where peace can become visible.
How can you share the value of club work?
- Update social media with your activities.
- Participate in district meetings. This is a wonderful way of sharing and receiving ideas. The Celebration of Clubs is May 4 in Hudson.
- Participate in district teams. This is a way for members to match their interests with a service and develop skills.
- Promote the value of your club's projects with the community
- Use the Awards Checklists in the different service areas to highlight your strengths and share your accomplishments.
- Have your club choose their Signature Project. Having to decide on one project promotes great discussion and pride in all that was accomplished.
