REMINDER - MEETING THIS WEEK! Thursday morning, March 5th, 7:00 am Cabin Coffee.
We will have our morning meeting on Thursday, 3/5. This will be a report out from our Board Meeting held this morning. Some topics you will hear about - intro to a couple of projects we may want to participate in, financial update, fundraising opportunities, NEGU update, reminder on Vinnies, Crutches for Africa update, and what is a Google Drive?
Last week we had an awesome program. Bill Kind hosted Craig Hokanson, who presented on his recent trip to Italy to attend the 2026 Winter Olympics with his daughter. It was really a fun and interesting presentation to hear and see pictures from the actual area and not what is presented on TV. Note - Chris Fitzgerald who was unable to present on Technology Scams and Safety due to a work committment, hopefully is available if you need a program and want to reschedule his presentation for a future meeting.
Due to the cancellation of our Club Visioning activity at NWT College we will be looking at a date probably in April for this activity. Watch for more info.
Share the Love - Update we have one new current member on the My Rotary site doing edonations for the foundation and 4 brand new contributors! Way to Go!
NEGU - IMPORTANT! Please sign up to help on March 27. We are still in need for volunteers - use the link below to sign up! So far only a few people have and we need an absolute minimum of 40 volunteers, with a goal of 100. Please click on the link below (or the one Mike VG sent you via email) as soon as possible. The main Joy Jar event is from 1:00-3:00, but there are preparations and boxing/packing and clean up shifts as well. Hope everyone can make it!
Please let Monika know if you can help on Friday, March 6 th at St. Vincent’s. We will have two shifts: 8:30 to 11 AM or 11 AM to 1:15 PM. The first shift primarily cooks, and the second shift serves and washes dishes. We will likely serve a breakfast-type meal.
Cumberland Rotary Impact Club Update:
REMINDER - No Meeting This Week, Next Meeting Wed. March 11 at Harvest Grill! 7:00 AM
We tried our new meeting place at the Harvest Grill, (at the Cumberland Hospital) last Wednesday - went very well, we liked that it was quieter and we had lots of natural sunlight. Mark Berger did a great job explaining the Rotary Foundation. We will continue to meet there for our meetings in the month of March. Reminder - We are selling daffodils for $10 a bunch delivery/pickup 3/26 or 27. The money raised will go towards our RYLA student.

Welcome to March, where it comes in like a Lion and out like a Lamb. Is it spring? Is it winter? A month for Madness? It is a time teasing at transition of seasons and club leadership. Is your club President-Elect registered for NC-PELS? How about your President-Elect Nominee? There still is time to get them registered.
March is an important month for Rotary International as we focus on one of the fundamental pillars of health and well-being—Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). Access to clean water and proper sanitation is essential for human dignity, disease prevention, and sustainable development. Through our projects and advocacy, Rotary clubs worldwide are making a significant impact in ensuring that communities gain access to these vital resources. When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families. Through WASH programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.
This month’s theme fits well with our 5-District “Unite for Water Campaign”. Plan some type of water-related project. See the story in this issue for project ideas. We will collect your projects and use them to tell our stories.
I want to remind you that March is the month when clubs communicate accomplishments via the Club Recognition section on the District website. Your club can qualify and be recognized in several areas of focus by ‘checking the boxes’ that describe your club’s achievements during the year. We will recognize your success at the Conference in April and at the District website. Visit the website, review the checklists, and ask your President if you can help to facilitate the process. Deadline for submission is March 31st.
