REMINDER - NO ROTARY MEETING THURSDAY August 29

Reminding everyone that we do not have a meeting this Thursday, August 29 , 2024.  It is our Social Week - if someone comes up with something please share and let us know - otherwise enjoy a morning sleeping in.

Last week, Joe E. hosted and we had Joe Kinnear and Clark Yolitz from Dairy State Bank to talk with us. These gentlemen are part of the new management at the Bank.  They introduced themselves and shared a bit about their vision of providing service to our area.  Thanks Joe - good program and nice people!

Also welcomed guest Tyler Kilcoyne, he will be running Skinner Funeral Home starting in September.  Tyler is potential member - if you get a chance, connect with him and encourage his participation!

Rose sales coming up - October 24.  Please get your contacts ready - should have  our tickets in September.

OLD BUSINESS:
Treasurer Report:  No Report this week.
We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help out with an audit of our accounts.  We use QuickBooks so its an easy task.  Would like a small 2-3 member committee by the end of Aug. to complete this sometime in Sept.  Please let BJ know if you are able to help out.
We are also going to be looking for a new Treasurer starting in July 2025.  Kathy will be retiring and won't have the same technology availability.  Plus, she has done it for a couple of years.  If you are interested please let her or any board member know now - you can get a LOT of training in ahead of time.

Bourbon Tasting Event.
Committee met and here are the updates:
Date - Thursday, Oct. 17
Location: Church Barn outside of Barron - contract has been signed.  All is going ahead with ticket and poster ordering.  Monika presented a couple of examples of the thematic design and the club voted (almost unanimously) on a style.  She will fine tune it and proceed forward.
The Committee came up with a list of potential donation sites for any participants to choose where their donation would go.  The organizations that were agreed upon were: Barron Co. Humane Society; Barron Co.  Sunrise Rotary Activity Fund; Benjamin's House; Boys and Girls Club; Natures Edge Therapy Center; Pink Ribbon Advocacy; Pregnancy Help Center; and the local Salvation Army.
Event Cost:  Food  $18 per plate;  Site Rental  $1200
Tickets $100 pp.   Goal is to get 100 invitees.  Will be asking everyone to try to sell 10 tickets. We need 30 to break even.
Potential Silent Auction to raise funds so will be looking for donations.
REMEMBER THIS EVENT WILL NEED EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL!!   We will need everyone to participate to help pull this off - but it will reap great rewards for our club, reputation, and fund raising. EVERYONE PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!

NEW BUSINESS
No New Business -

Reminder on our Club Schedule Adjustment - Had a discussion on what would work best for our club in running meetings, trying to support increased participation and attendance and help support members who have jobs that make it more challenging to attend each week in the morning.  Starting in September we are going to try to follow the model of Meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, Social event on the 3rd Thursday, and a Board meeting on the first Tuesday.  There may be adjustments made to this based on things already scheduled and/or holidays.  Please review the Upcoming Programs Calendar shown below!!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  • Ruby's Pantry - Next date is Sat. Sept. 21.  Get it on your calendar!!
  • Cook a meal at St. Vincent de Paul's Pauls Pantry - Monika will be getting us a date in Nov.
