. As I travel around, I enjoy the fellowship within the clubs. Members have a purpose and are productive. I love hearing about the services they feel are the most significant. A club's atmosphere can be a beautiful thing to experience. The smiles, friendly teasing, laughter, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging. For me, all of this makes peace visible. Thank you for a remarkable six months.
But we must stay focused. Time is marching on. We have six more months in the 2023-2024 Rotary year. Here is my wish list for you.
I look forward to the remaining time together. Let's have the best year ever of service and fun.

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month
This month, we celebrate the work Rotarians worldwide are doing to combat diseases through effective treatment and prevention. In 1985, Rotary pledged to eradicate polio, and look at the progress that has occurred! A new disease prevention program is targeting malaria. The program was so successful it has expanded to include 4 more countries. Our district has clubs with clean water and sanitation grants. This is an important way of preventing disease.
Possible activities:
- Just got this email with a video and ideas to share. https://msgfocus.rotary.org/q/1tYPGkYKfMCSXQtO6iSZ1ox5/wv
- Show a 2 minute video https://www.rotary.org/en/our-causes/fighting-disease .
- If you have done or are doing a grant or supported another club's grant, figure out the "people impact" of your work. Zoom in a speaker to tell about the grant. Celebrate!
- Although infectious diseases continue to be a major cause of illness across the globe, they are not the major health concern for the United States. We are seeing peoples’ lives shortened by chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Many of these conditions are due to certain health behaviors and social conditions. Have a discussion or speaker on healthy living as a prevention. Invite a PT to do exercises with the club as a meeting topic.
- Meet at a mall and walk around for exercise as the meeting. Then go to breakfast, lunch, or happy hour.
- Give the club a Step Challenge and report on the number of steps people walk at each meeting. Post the total amount at the end of the month or challenge period. Celebrate.
