Hoping everyone is staying fairly cool and comfortable.  Sending  you a reminder that we have a meeting, Thursday, July 27 at 7:00 am at Stevies Cafe.  De Anna hosts and tentatively will be bringing in Duana with more information on the Back to School event hosted by Salvation Army.  They are looking for volunteers to help out at the Barron location on August 12th - come and hopefully hear Duana to find out more information!  Last week Mike Van Gilder shared updates and details on the re-vitalization of the Rice Lake Main St. project.  Way to go Mike and crew for being almost a month ahead of schedule.  

 

We had a discussion on a number of items last week.  Here is the recap of decisions that were made:

1.  No dues changes for the next year.  Dues will remain at $136 per quarter.  (Plus any additional amount you would like to contribute to the Rotary Foundation.)  The motion was made by Kathy R.  and seconded by Jim S. and Joe E.  Our collection for the breakfast will be reduced in order to cover the additional RI dues adjustment...we still believe we come out ahead.  Especially with the addition of one less formal meeting when we have a social event. 

2.  We discussed the monthly schedule and decided that we would try to have one social event each month (headed by Don and Duana) and when we have that we will not have the morning meeting.  In addition - we will try to have a business meeting following each board meeting so we do not cut in to speakers time with business discussions.  This is a goal - but will also be fluid as we go forth with our scheduling.  

3.  The club agreed to allow for the addition of a check book for use during the CAN AM event in February.  There will be a required two signature system (Kathy R from our club and Jon G. from the noon club).  The checking account will be closed at the end of the event.  The motion was made by Mike VG and seconded by Clare.  The seed money for this account will come from the previous CAN AM event coordination group. 

4.  Ken agreed to handle the Dictionary Project this fall - thanks Ken!

5.  Rotating Greeter Role:  Mark and Cathy shared what they did for us for the greeter role.  We hope to carry this on for this next year....and hopefully longer!  They came in a little early, set up the name tags (there are blanks if we have any guests) and also set up the AOS raffle - all members were greeted as they walked in.  They then handled the AOS ticket drawing and also brought a small gift to hand out to a second ticket holder.  Clare volunteered to do the greeter responsibilities during our next meeting this week on the 27th.  

 

Remember, we still have an opportunity for a member to be our Co-President Elect starting in January.  Please seriously consider taking this opportunity to be more involved.  This is a great way to share leadership and learn  more about Rotary.
