Barron County Sunrise Rotary Club Update:

Meeting is Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Cabin Coffee 7:00 AM.

This week we will be reviewing Monday's event, hear from Joe about Argentina and discuss what we need to do to prepare for their visit here.

Last week BJ Williams brought to us Dr. Anshu, a Rotarian and ophthalmologist based in Haiti, who has brought eye care to communities in Nepal, Peru, Lebanon, Tanzania, Honduras, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Indonesia, India, and Haiti. She’ll be joined us virtually and presented a very informative and moving account of what is happening in Haiti.

The Business Event in Cameron was held on Monday, May 4th at 5:30 PM at Mosaic. We had two business representatives show up. Jennifer with Stella-Jones (the telephone pole company in Cameron) and Bill (?) the guy who is doing a lot of the videography work at the Pioneer village.  Both shared what was happening at their organizations - we learned alot about both and they were invited to check Sunrise Rotary out with a nice presentation given by Don D.  We had a great turnout by our club membership and were provided with some awesome appetizers courtesy of Mosaic.  Thank you Chris, Don, and Mosaic for a very nice gathering.

The Shell Lake Companion Club - is hosting their kickoff and ribbon cutting event.  The group has submitted their paperwork and has 10 founding members planning to join our club.  This is exciting news!  Here is a pic of the group and announcement for their event.  Future newsletters will include a section for their information.

The Children's Safety Fair is coming up Saturday, May 16th, at Northwood Tech's back parking lot. Let Jeremy know if you can volunteer for a shift.

Fourth quarter dues have been emailed to all members.

We’re collecting mobility-related items for Crutches for Africa. You can bring donations to our meetings anytime in May or drop them off with Tyler at Kilcoyne Memorial Services in Rice Lake. All items will be shipped to Africa at the end of the month.  We are also accepting donations of diapers and/or detergent which we will split between the Cumberland Impact group and St. Vinnies.

Kevin Jacobson said the Rice Lake Club has approved $10,000 for the Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed building project. They are requesting $1000 from our clubs. They will be requesting a $600 grant from the District. We would build 60 beds on October 3rd at Northwood Tech. Volunteers will work in 2 shifts with breaks in between the two shifts. Kevin had a few posters, brochures, and cards with a QR code that families can scan to request a bed. More info coming!
