REMINDER

Meeting Thurs. June 12th, at Cheese Louise/Northwood Cycle (19 N Main St. Rice Lake - front door will be open)  at 7:00 AM

This week we will have Allison and Tom from Northwood Cycle talk about cycling options for all ages.  This is also an opportunity for our club to check out the Cheese Louise site for future meetings.

Last week Barb Ritzinger from Univ. of Eau Claire Barron County talked to us about the UWEC-BC Foundation and where our scholarship dollars go. It was interesting to hear how the merger with UW Eau Claire impacted the foundation and all the programs the foundation does for the students.  Over $62,000 was given out this year.  The scholarships range from $500-$2000.  Average is $800.  (We give $700)   Thank you BJ for getting Barb in on such short notice.

Following that club voted on several items that were recommended by the board.

1) Elk River Rotary Club is requested a donation for a Rwanda support project they are leadings in which they are trying to raise $50,000.  They are requesting any amount.  The board is recommending $100 donation (that will be matched by the district.)  The club voted to approve this - motion made by Clare and seconded by Monika.

2)  We voted for approval for our Barron Co. Sunrise Rotary Club to support and host the Cumberland Rotary Companion Club.  There are a few details that will need to be finalized, but we need to have on record that we support this arrangement.  After some discussion on the structure of the Cumberland Companion club (details still being worked on) the Sunrise Rotary voted unanimously to support this endeaver.  The motion was made by Kathy R and seconded by Tyler K.

3) The board also recommended that in lieu of a cash donation that we will purchase Rotary Vests for the Cumberland Companion Club.  We will need to entertain a motion and support of purchasing 20 vests/t-shirts for them.  Club approved whatever option will work best for them   Motion was made by Joe and seconded by Tyler.  Motion carried.

A reminder that our June social event, sponsored by Joe and Bruce, will be Thursday, June 19 at the Enchanted Barn in Hillsdale, with brick oven pizza and music by the Smokin’ Loons. Their hours are 5 to 11 pm.

Kiwanis Food Truck at Music in the Park needs help on July 8 and 22nd. Could still use a volunteer or two from 5-8 pm.  Let Jason or BJ know if you can help.

The Ace of Spades ....   WAS WON!!!!   Congratulations Kathy R.  who won $1087.50   And our club was able to raise $1087.50     We will start over again when we next meet at Stevies.....can someone bring in a new deck of cards?
