Last Tuesday, August 23rd, our speaker was author Kathy Waldvogel. She spoke about on her research/book: Spies, Soldiers, Couriers, & Saboteurs: Women of the American Revolution. Her book is about women and girls active in the Patriots’ cause in the American Revolution. She relayed several wonderful stories and sold some copies of her book. Thanks Deb Neuheisel, for inviting Kathy and bringing several other guests to hear Kathy's presentation.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Dictionaries Ken Petersen is coordinating the 3rd grade dictionary project for us. All public schools have responded with a total of 246 students, compared to 274 last year -- a decrease of 10%. Ken is wondering how many extra dictionaries to purchase to for home school, Amish, and Mennonite students? He would like to get the books ordered so they arrive by our meeting on September 6, or he will need to exchange his program date with someone else so we can label the dictionaries.
October 4th will be our membership informational meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to invite those interested in learning about Rotary. It is an opportunity to showcase what we are all about and increase our membership.
To help with recruitment, we are offering a provisional membership for 3 months (lower cost) so potential members can check us out before committing to a full membership. Please continue to reach out to the people Don Drost helped us to identify and any others you think might be interested.
Please attend our weekly meetings! We had less than 50% of our current members present at the last meeting.
Next Board meeting Monday, Sept. 19 - time and place TBD
Rose Day 2022 is Oct. 27. Roses will be $20 per dozen, and you will need to deliver your own roses. We will coordinate within our club to help each other make deliveries, or you can have your buyer pick up their roses at Cedar Mall on Thursday, October 27. More info, posters, and collection envelopes to come!
