District News:
Your Rotary Legacy
82 District 5960 Rotarians declared their intent to Leave a Rotary Legacy when they notified The Rotary Foundation they have included Rotary in their estate plans.
“It is exciting to note that these individuals want to see the work of our Rotary Foundation continue beyond their lifetime,” says PDG Tom Yuzer, the District Endowment/Major Gift Adviser. Estate gifts received by Rotary go into the endowment fund and earnings every year support the programs of Rotary, both at home and around the world.
Several former Rotarians have made these gifts and some of those were directed, so some of those earnings come directly to District 5960 as District Designated Funds which support District and Global Grants, scholarships and PolioPlus.
“What surprises us,” Yuzer said, “is that while we can celebrate and honor those of you who have made this commitment, there are others who have not told Rotary of their plan to support Rotary with an estate gift.”
Two such gifts were received in 2024-25 when former Rotarians, no longer active with their club, died and as their estate was closed gifts were received by The Rotary Foundation. “If you have Rotary in your estate plans we would like to acknowledge that future gift and assist you in ensuring the gift will support Rotary in a way most meaningful to you,” he said.
