Good Morning,
Reminding you that we have our meeting this Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 7:00 AM at Stevies Cafe. We will be presenting our donations to the Barron County Food Pantries. We will also finalize our Membership Meeting Plans - so please come with your invite count so we can plan appropriately for food. Also - remember your raffle tickets!!
Thank you to all who provided feedback regarding our presentation for Jan 19 membership meeting. Please try to attend that date and remember your name tag.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- Hat/Mitten Donation - If you didn't get a chance to - you can still bring your hats/mittens to our meeting. Clare can still use them for the Free Clinic distribution.
- Food Pantry Donation - We did agree as a club to donate $500 to the county food pantries. We will be making our donations at our January 12 meeting.
- Valentines Raffle - Let's get those tickets sold - be sure to bring any un-sold to our future meetings...others may need them to sell.
- Membership Information Meeting - Jan. 19 - please put together your list of invitees. If you have asked someone and they have said no....let Don know. If you have asked someone and they have said yes....let Don know. We have started getting some numbers and its looking good! Keep on asking! Growing Membership via Service – If you haven’t heard Alex Johnson speak, you have missed out. The district membership team had him at their monthly meeting in November and he was once again fantastic. You missed it???? That’s a shame. However, you have two more opportunities. The purpose of our membership meeting is to invite those interested in learning about Rotary. It is an opportunity to showcase what we are all about and increase our membership.
To help with recruitment, we are offering a provisional membership for 3 months (lower cost) so potential members can check us out before committing to a full membership. Please continue to reach out to the people Don Drost helped us to identify and any others you think might be interested.
One last thought - it is VERY important that our own membership plan to attend this meeting...we need to set the example.

Dayle Quigley - Newsletter items - week 28
Happy 28th week. We could trucking ahead. This past Saturday we had the District Midterm Conference. It was well attended in person and online. There were one or two technical snafus but those were quickly rectified. Everyone seemed to have a good time. I know that I did. Thank you to everyone who attended. Now get ready for the TriDistrict Conference on April 29th at Madden’s Resort in Brainerd. Yippee, more fun in the sun with fellow Rotarians and their families.
Some of the most exciting news is the distribution of the 250 Individual First Aid Kits to soldiers and civilians on the front lines of the war in Ukraine. Think of the numbers of lives impacted with this project.

1. Run a Better Meeting – Do you feel like your meetings get away from you or you don’t get anything accomplished. This is the course for you (or maybe it’s a good webinar for the incoming president….hmmmmmm) Minnesota State Association of Parliamentarians Annual Seminar. Jan 28th from 0845-1200 via Zoom. 2. Uniting for Ukraine – I know we have talked before about our collaboration with Alight for sponsoring Ukrainian refugees. Here is a link to RI’s official collaboration with Welcome.US. Apr 29th – Tri-District Conference – Madden’s Resort at Gull Lake - Here is the info for you and your members. Please read carefully and pass on the info. -Deadline for all rooms is April 1st, 2023. Madden's agrees to hold 10 rooms (2 night stay required) in a rolling room block. We have 5 at $149+ (located in the Golf Villas) & 5 at $160+ located lakeside. Rooms will continue to added to this block as reservations are made by your guests, based on the resort's availability. We will be getting a link this week to place on the website/or distribute to attendees. There will be a note on the link stating one night stays will not be accepted online. One night stays will ONLY be accepted by contacting the resort directly at 800-642-5363. There are 12 rooms in the block currently located in the Mission Point area of the resort. These 2 buildings are being opened up early just for our group to accommodate the 1 night stay requests. Anyone that will need a one night stay should contact the resort sooner than later. Rooms not guaranteed with a deposit will be released back to general resort inventory April 2nd, 2023.

1. Deano Pape - Deano Pape is president of Austin Rotary and has a talk that he is happy to deliver to area Rotary clubs called The 100 Hour Day: Welcome to Your Cell phone. He does an exercise with the audience that measures their technology consumption and discusses the effects of our social media and cellphone engagement. He also tailors his talk to specific requests, such as effects on our personal relationships, productivity in the workplace, education, political polarization, and/or post-lockdown uses of technology and where we go from here. 2. Annie Nolte-Henning - Annie is Director of the Americas for Alight (previously the American Refugee Committee) - she is knowledgeable and inspiring. If she can't come and talk, she has a staff that can. Very cool. Give her a ring 402.297.2368
3. Bill Goodwin - This one comes to use via our own Kathy Hughitt. She has heard Bill speak on leadership but states that he is capable of speaking on multiple topics. Kathy says he is very engaging. Bill is also one of our Lakeville Rotarian. bill@prioritylivingmn.com
