This week BJ hosts and we will have Brian Schroeder, Northwood Tech Sr. Advancement Officer on the NWT Foundation. Last week we had our New District Governor, Glenn Bowers, attend our meeting. We also had members attend the Cumberland Impact Club Launch Party.
A couple of other reminders/updates:
1) Next years Int'l Conference is in Taipei, Tiawan June 13-17th. Jim S. is planning on attending if anyone else has an interest in going.
2) Spirits Event progress is ongoing. Facebook announcement has been posted - if you receive be sure to share! Kathy sent out a final list of the organizations we are going to list to support: Salvation Army, Boys&Girls Club, Pregnancy Help Center, Benjamin's House, and Pink Ribbon Advocacy. Tickets are available through Kathy.
Cumberland Rotary Impact Club Update:
REMINDER - Meeting Wednesday, Aug. 13th 7:00 AM, Peter & Annies
We had a great launch party last Wednesday! So thankful for all the fellow Rotarians who attended and made our new club feel so welcome! Thanks to Glen Bowers for attending also. We had a great time at a beautiful spot on the patio of the Harvest Grill at Cumberland Healthcare. We’ve been busy getting the EIN stuff figured out and have opened a checking account. We are still collecting for our school supply drive which will wrap up in 2 weeks when we give the supplies to the elementary school. We are also working on our plans to support the Rutabaga fest next week. Tomorrow is our club meeting at 7amat Peter and Annie’s. Thanks, LJ

Will be finalizing By-laws at Sept. 2 Board meeting and will be bringing to the clubs the first week of Sept.
All bills are up-to-date.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Cumberland Impact Club will be involved at the Rutabaga Fest - Contact Clare and/or Lisa for more info if you want to help.

Aug. 20 - Social Activity - ADRC Dinner 4:30-5:30 followed by concert with Sean & Ian (great father/son duo, were on AGT). If you plan to attend dinner call 715-635-4460 to reserve a spot. Cost for dinner for those over 60 is suggested donation $8-$10, under 60 is $15. Bring your own lawn chair!

We always need to think of recruiting new members into Rotary. With August being ‘Membership and New Club Development’ month, we should be incentivized to do this with renewed effort. Bringing new members into your club will give it new energy, new ideas, and new life. A club will always lose members due to career changes, relocations, family issues, financial strife, and, unfortunately, death. Without an influx of new members, a club will wither away and die. Since 2011, our District has lost eleven clubs with the formation of only a satellite club during that same period. Data from Rotary International indicates that most growth comes from the formation of new clubs.
Speaking of satellite clubs, the Rotary Satellite Club of Cumberland Impact was chartered on June 12. This club is an extension of the Rotary Club of Barron County Sunrise in Wisconsin. Congratulations to everyone involved in the creation of this satellite club.
RI encourages clubs to be innovative. You can change meeting times and locations, including mixing things up each month. Create your own Satellite Club. Consider forming a Rotaract Club in your community. The more hands that we have, the more we can Expand Our Reach and Increase Our Impact. Let’s grow Rotary in 5960!
Consider sponsoring a student for a Long-Term Youth Exchange. The application deadline is November 15 for the 2026-27 school year. More information can be found on the North Star Youth Exchange website. Also, consider hosting an inbound student. The exchange is a life-changing experience for the students. The program also positively impacts the adults that work with these students.
