No Formal Meeting this week - Next Meeting is Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, at Cabin Coffee 7:00 AM - This week is Rose Day. Anyone helping is invited to join us at Maxines at 7:00 am prior to going to the Mall for flower pick-up/delivery.
This week we will be completing our Rose Sales and Deliveries Fundraiser. Remember to pick up and deliver any roses you have sold or drop off the sales slips of those who will be coming to pick up flowers so we can keep our sales records straight.
Last week was our Harvest Dinner and Bourbon and Spirits Tasting Event. I don't have all the final financial details but can say it certainly appeared to be a success. Many, many positive comments regarding the food, beverages (and they had numerous options to try - it was fantastic), along with the venue and overall how the event was run. We did raise $1020 for Polio Plus - with another $1020 going to the 50/50 raffle winner - thank you Tyler Kilcoyne for the great 50/50 raffle poster! Special thank you to all the Bourbon tasting committee members; Dean Springer, Kathy Ricci, Jason Saffert (most awesome emcee), and all club members who helped out. (I'll be honest, I am not listing all names for fear of leaving someone out.) Each of you worked hard and did a great job presenting a wonderful evening!
We will meet at Cabin Coffee again next week, Oct. 29 to finalize Bourbon event and Rose Sales event financial records. If you owe anything for tickets or roses, please bring at that time.
Cumberland Rotary Impact Club Update:
REMINDER - No Meeting this week - Next Meeting is Wednesday Oct. 28, 7:00 AM at the Harvest Grill
No meeting this week. We did meet last week and several members signed up to help with bed deliveries. Kevin Jacobson did a great job of answering questions about the event and how deliveries work. We also had a guest from DKG, which is an educators group who promote literacy. They are looking to partner with us and we discussed that they could deliver books with the beds. Thank you to those members who helped with the Bourbon Tasting event in some way. Special thanks to Clare for putting together the information regarding Polio Plus for the 50/50 Raffle. We will be helping with roses in Thursday and bring the flowers sold back to Cumberland for delivery. Looks like we may have sold at least 40 dozen! Have a great week!
Thanks, Lisa

ROTARY DISTRICT 5960 BUSINESS/NEWS:
Rotary and polio
Rotary is an international community that brings together leaders who step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, locally and globally. The eradication of polio is one of our longest standing and most significant efforts. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good.
Most know it as poliovirus or simply polio. The virus is spread from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can attack the nervous system, and in some instances, lead to paralysis. Infected individuals shed poliovirus into the environment for several weeks, where it can spread rapidly through a community, especially in areas of poor sanitation and under-immunized communities. Although there is no cure, there are safe and effective vaccines – which Rotary and our partners have used to immunize over 3 billion children worldwide since 1988.
