Meeting Thurs. May 15, Stevie's Cafe - 7:00 AM

Tyler hosts our meeting this week with Stef Fiedler of Business and Estate Advisors as our speaker.

Last week had a full agenda! Thanks to Dean for leading the meeting for BJ.

1. Thanks Ana, for an excellent presentation on NEGU for the District Shark Tank! We were awarded $2,250. for the project. There was a concern following the presentation about the Jesse Reece Foundation from a Shark who reviewed the Foundation on Charity Navigator.

2. The Executive team visited Cabin Coffee as a possible club meeting venue. The back room has about 20 seats, a large screen TV for projection, and a door. They open at 6 AM and have breakfast items as well as many beverages. Members can arrive at 6:45 am to begin ordering. Breakfast could be "on your own" as it is more expensive than Stevie's. The group is also going to explore Cheese Louise in downtown RL.

3. District dues are set to increase again. We will likely have a new dues structure.

4. Dean suggested a Polar Plunge fundraiser for the Adoption Initiative, perhaps in partnership with the Knights of Columbus. More to come on this idea. Jim S. is a Knight and will initiate a discussion with the Grand Knight, Greg Montgomery.

5. Dean asked for volunteers (Kathy, Clare, anyone else?) to begin planning the Bourbon & Spirits event coming up Sept. 25th. They will begin meeting this month. We will have to purchase all of our liquor from The Barn this year due to beverage licensing rules.

6. Clare presented a request for a future international project with the Northfield Rotary Club in Minnesota to fund a security fence around a girl's school in Togo. Cost is about $25,000. The club voted to contribute $500. Clare is willing to match those funds.

7. Rice Lake International Friendship Assoc. member Angie Beranek requested funding to help bring the Melody Accordian Orchestra from the Czech Republic to Rice Lake on Aug. 18-24th. They have enough host families but are looking for support for transportation expenses. We voted to contribute $750; individual gifts may be added.

8. The club also voted to contribute $250 to help host Kids from Wisconsin on Thursday, July 24th.

9. Admin fund balance to date: $9,654. ($1,000 is Pat Durand fund).

Activity fund balance to date: $9,232.68

10. Last but not least, we made a profit of $516.33 on the Cinco de Mayo event with 25 attendees. The food was excellent and a good time was had by all! Last year we made $1,350 with 37 attendees.

EXECUTIVE BUSINESS:

Thank you to Jim Stoll (with help from Tyler K.) for stepping up to take on the Treasurer role starting in July 2025.

We held some discussion on the possibility of a two-year presidency.

Group discussed a couple of options for Business Membership. The Membership would be $136 (regular qtr. dues) for one membership (could send whoever they want). If they wanted a consistent second or third member, it will be $50 for each member.

Ruby's Pantry - Next date is Sat. June 21, 2025 - please put it on your calendar.
St. Vincent de Paul meal prep is scheduled for Wed. July 9. Please put on your calendar.

Elector (Deadline to Register June 4)
Pursuant to District 5960 Bylaws, each club shall select, certify, and send at least one elector to the Annual / Legislation meeting. Any club with a membership of more than 25 members shall be entitled to one additional elector for each additional 25, or a major fraction thereof, of its members. Such membership shall be determined by the number of members in the club as of the date of the most recent semi-annual payment which precedes the date on which the vote is to be taken. Electors, please plan on joining the meeting at least 15 minutes prior to the meeting start time and not later than 5 minutes to confirm your certification with the Credentialing Officer.

District Governor-Elect Glenn Bowers invites you to the District 5960 Assembly, a key training event for incoming club leaders.

A strong Rotary club depends on strong leadership. This session will provide essential knowledge, tools, and connections to help incoming leaders succeed. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with district leaders, including the District Governor-Elect and committee members, who will support club projects and initiatives.

Who Should Attend?
Incoming club leaders (2025-2026), including Secretaries, Treasurers, Membership, Public Image, and Rotary Foundation team members.

Session Details:
The event includes a general session featuring remarks from DGE Glenn Bowers, followed by breakout sessions tailored to specific leadership roles.
