We have our Club Visioning activity this week at 5:00 pm at NWT college conference center, room 247. Please arrive at 5:00 pm for a light meal (a few minutes earlier is okay too!). Also remember bring the writing exercise that was sent to you by Joan Fawcett. She sent an email with a writing exercise attachment. Please fill out your ideas and bring the worksheets with you. It looks a little daunting, but jot down at least a few ideas to help us begin to formalize goals. Thanks to everyone who completed the survey. If you haven’t completed it yet, there is still time! It helps the facilitators customize the event for us. The District Governor will hopefully attend as well!
Last week we had our Valentine's Raffle Day. All tickets were sold. YAY! The winners drawn were:

Club members, thank you for selling all 100 tickets! We earned $3,050, which will be divided and distributed to our Barron County food shelves, plus an additional $100 from a person donating their prize to the food shelves, for a total of $3,150!
A Barron friend assisted our club by selling 25 raffle tickets, or 1/4 th of our total sales. He needed immediate assistance with his utility bills, as he didn’t receive enough heat assistance to cover the winter months. The club voted to pay $150 to Barron Light and Water in gratitude for his help. Jason also “passed a hat” and collected an additional $232 to put towards his utilities. He responded back to the club with tears of gratitude and relief! The amount should help him with utilities for several months.
A couple of other topics that were discussed:
Shell Lake Companion Club Mark and Cathy provided an update on the ongoing efforts to establish a Shell Lake companion club. During their most recent meeting, the atmosphere was notably positive. The Lion’s Club has also offered favorable feedback. Mark and Cathy noted that many of the individuals interested in joining the companion club attended the meeting as couples, so they are considering the introduction of a couple’s membership option to accommodate these potential members. They are hoping for a May start date.
Community Connections This event went very well. We served 191 people, including the NPO representatives. We donated the leftover soup and soup containers to St. Vincent de Paul. Many thanks to Jennie-O for donating ground turkey for our soup and to Jimmy Johns for the bread.
Share the Love February’s District Foundation campaign Share the Love has begun. It is a great way to earn a Paul Harris award for a donation to the Foundation of $365 or more. (Typically you must donate $1000 to be recognized with a Paul Harris award.) Go to My Rotary to donate electronically. If you need help, Mark Berger will guide you through it.
Waseca Club Farm America Project Jason sent an email asking for a vote to fund this project. He received enough “aye” votes to approve a $500 donation to the club.
NEGU Please sign up to help on March 27. So far only 7 people have and we need an absolute minimum of 40 volunteers, with a goal of 100. Ana shared a story about a local student who had childhood leukemia and was extremely grateful for the Joy Jars she received. Please click on the link below (or the one Mike VG sent you via email) as soon as possible. The main Joy Jar event is from 1:00-3:00, but there are preparations and boxing/packing and clean up shifts as well. Hope everyone can make it!
Ruby’s is Sat, Feb. 21. Arrive at Living Waters Church in Cameron at 7 AM. Typically, we finish by 10 AM or even earlier. They need extra help this month. Dress for the weather! Please let Monika know if you can help on Friday, March 6 th at St. Vincent’s. We will have two shifts: 8:30 to 11 AM or 11 AM to 1:15 PM. The first shift primarily cooks, and the second shift serves and washes dishes. We will likely serve a breakfast-type meal.
Cumberland Rotary Impact Club Update:
REMINDER - NO Meeting This Week!
No Meeting this week. Next week we will be trying a new meeting place at the Harvest Grill, which is at the Cumberland Hospital. We were able to help out with the Ice Fishing Contest, which was a great day for fishing at for fundraising for the Cumberland Chamber. Several of us will be attending the Visioning Activity on Thursday evening - everyone is welcome so more are certainly encouraged to attend. We were also able to share more hygiene products with the school 's food pantry this past week. Reminder from last week that dues were sent out for the current and next quarter and that we are pulling together a cut daffodil sale for the spring as a fundraiser with the funds being used for the RYLA program we are sending a student to.
EXECUTIVE BUSINESS:
We will be doing a club visioning exercise on Feb. 19, 2026 THIS THURSDAY with support from our Rotary District. This will be a one-night activity and will include the Cumberland Impact Companion Club. This will be in-lieu of our morning meeting. 5:00 pm social and 5:30 pm start at Northwood Tech. College - Conference Center, Room 247.

Planning a District or Global Grant for 2026–27? District 5960 has released the full schedule of required trainings, workshops, and grant deadlines. Grants Management Seminars will be held March 21, 24, and 26, with Global Grants Workshops following on March 31 and April 2. The always-popular Shark Tank session is set for May 6. Global Grant submissions are due May 15, and District Grants are due May 29, with review dates later that month and in June.
