Sunrise Rotary Club Update:

REMINDER - NO MORNING MEETING - Christmas Social and Celebration Meeting this week Thursday, Dec. 18 - 4:30 pm Lehmans! (RSVP to Kathy R so our orders can be put in right away)

This week we will have our Christmas celebration and meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18 at Lehmans. Social hour starts at 4:30. Cost is $30 per person. Feel free to bring a White Elephant gift ($10 limit or something from the house). Remember that this means there is NO MORNING MEETING!

Last week we had a presentation from Community Connections. It was a great presentation from Lori Zahrbock and Sara Turner on the services that have been provided by this group. Our club is looking to provide support in a meal and coverage at the multi agency resource event February 5th. Watch for more information.

We also got a report regarding the Shell Lake Area Companion Club. The group met on Tuesday and are looking at how they want to look as a group and what will work best for the Shell Lake area.

A couple of other reminders:

1) We are working Rubies Pantry on Saturday, Dec. 20th - please put it on your calendar!! That is THIS weekend! 7am - 10 am.

2) We will be serving at St. Vinnie's on Mondays, Dec. 22 and 29th. Please put it on your calendar to help out in any amount of time possible between 8:30-1:30. So far we have Dec. 22 (8:30 shift - Monika and Kathy R. 10:30 shift - Monika, Dean and Lori Springer) Dec. 29 (8:30 shift - Monika and Kathy R 10:30 shift - Monika, Dean and Lori and Trudy) We can still use some help!

3) NEGU update! March 27 is our date for the Joy Jar packing event to be held at Bethany Lutheran Church. We have exceeded our goal of $16,000 and now shooting for $20,000. Hoping to make it so we can pack more jars.

Cumberland Rotary Impact Club Update:

REMINDER - Rescheduled Meeting Wednesday at Peter and Annies! 7:00 AM - Dec. 10th

Club will have a holiday party Monday Dec 15 - this evening!

We have had several members ringing bells for the Salvation Army in the Cumberland Area.
Proposed hat and mitten drive in mid-January with evening meeting on
1/14/26 - place to be determined. This will be a social and service gathering.

EXECUTIVE BUSINESS:

We will be doing a club visioning exercise in Jan./Feb 2026 with support from our Rotary District. This will be a one-night activity and will include the Cumberland Impact Companion Club. Working on getting a date.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Ruby's Pantry in Cameron - Next event is Dec. 20th. Please mark your calendars.
St. Vinnies Meal Prep - Monday, Dec. 22 and 29th. There is no meeting Dec. 25th or Jan. 1 so let's use these dates to provide local Rotary support.
Feb. 5 - Community Connections (more info to come).

District News:

To Clubs:

Here is my message that I send out weekly unless I do not have anything to share with you. I know that you get enough emails without me dreaming up something to say in order to get you a weekly message.

I do have good news to report. At the end of November, the District's membership was 36 over what we had on July 1. Keep up the good work on attracting new members. To keep them around, put energy into engaging these new members. Speaking of member retention, it is time to clean up your club's membership list before RI issues your January dues statement. I hope that you have done a great job on member retention so that our plus 36 does not erode terribly.

As part of our continued evolution, Rotary’s DEI Advisory Council is now known as the Enhancing Participant Engagement Committee. District-level committees will reflect this updated focus as well, with names and purposes centered on engagement, belonging, accessibility, and culture.

This is not about moving away from our values. It’s about making them actionable. Diversity remains a core value, and the emphasis on respectful, welcoming environments continues. What’s changing is the way we frame this work: ensuring that belonging, engagement, accessibility, and culture are woven into every aspect of the Rotary experience, rather than treated as standalone efforts. This approach also supports the Action Plan priorities of enhancing participant engagement and expanding our reach. The key is to be sure your club has a welcoming atmosphere at club meetings, socials, fundraisers, and service projects.

I know that many clubs have had or will soon have holiday celebrations. Take the time to enjoy the fellowship of your club's members.
