Barron County Sunrise Rotary Club Update: 

No morning meeting on May 21; we will meet at 5:30 pm for Visioning Planning at Northwood Technical College.  

This week is our visioning event. 

Last week Cathy hosted Joe and Julie, who shared their experiences on their Rotary Friendship Exchange in Argentina. What an amazing trip!

Reminder - The Shell Lake Companion Club - is hosting their kickoff and ribbon cutting event.  The group has submitted their paperwork and has 10 founding members planning to join our club.  This is exciting news!  Here is a pic of the group and announcement for their event.  Future newsletters will include a section for their information. 

 

The Children's Safety Fair was Saturday, May 16th, at Northwood Tech. It was well attended and a lot of fun! Watch Facebook for photos in the near future. Thanks to Jeremy and Clare for all the work they did for this event. 

We’re collecting mobility-related items for Crutches for Africa. You can bring donations to our meetings anytime in May or drop them off with Tyler at Kilcoyne Memorial Services in Rice Lake. All items will be shipped to Africa at the end of the month. Clare shared a poster the Cumberland Impact group created for this activity. 

On Thursday, June 4th, the Friendship Exchange Rotary members from Argentina will be visiting our area. They begin with a tour of Norswiss farms, followed by dinner at the Enchanted Barn and after-dinner cocktails at Casa Mexicana. On Friday, they will visit the Aqua Garden in Rice Lake, tour Rice Lake Weighing Systems, have lunch and entertainment at Reindeer Hill/6Four Accord, and dinner with our club members at Lehman's Supper Club. Saturday, they may attend the Dairy breakfast or eat breakfast with their host families, then travel to Hayward. While in Hayward, the guests will visit the Lumberjack show, the Freshwater Fish Hall of Fame, and finish the day with a wild game dinner. On Sunday, they will leave Rice Lake at 10 AM.

Please RSVP to Jason Saffert if you can attend the dinner at Lehman's or plan to attend any of the other events.

Cumberland Rotary Impact Club Update:

No meeting this week; the next meeting is May 27 at 7 AM at Harvest Grill.

Our club had a successful diaper and detergent drive last week, with both the community and the high school collecting items. It was fun to see the high school students involved! The items were donated to the Nutrition on Weekends pantry and the Cumberland Food Pantry. Both groups were very grateful!

Let me (Lisa Janty) know if you would like raffle tickets to buy or sell for the Cumberland Boys and Girls Club Shopping Spree. This is the second year the club has partnered on this event.

Several Impact club members will be attending the visioning session on Thursday.

EXECUTIVE BUSINESS: 

Our Club visioning is Thursday, May 21st at 5:30 pm at Northwood Tech.  We would like to encourage all Sunrise, Cumberland Impact, and Shell Lake Area Rotary members to attend.  There will be pizza - please come about 5pm to eat so we can start the meeting at 5:30. 

Remember to bring a smart phone or tablet with a camera AND your visioning "homework" to the meeting! 

Reminder that the Sunrise board meeting was moved to Tuesday, May 19th. 7:30 am at Johnson Bank.  Jason sent out a video link if you prefer to attend that way. This will cover both May and June.
