Reminding you that this week we will be meeting at at Stevies! 7:00 AM on Thursday, Dec. 1.
This week is hosted by Mark B. We did not have a meeting last week - hoping you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- Hat/Mitten Donation - Please bring your hats/mittens to the meeting on Dec. 1. Clare will be taking these to the Free Clinic for distribution.
- ROSE SALES We had another successful Rose Sales this year. Here are the details. Thank you everyone for your help and sales this year.
Rose Money brought in with sales 196 dozen = $3,920.00
Expenses (posters, tickets, and 1/4 cost of donated leftover roses) - $1,167.15
Total Profit = $2,752.85
- Food Pantry Donation - We did agree as a club to donate $500 to the county food pantries. We agreed to wait until after our Rose Sales to do this so we have enough in our activity fund. We will need to do this now.
- Membership Information Meeting - the date selected is Jan. 19 - start thinking about who you may want to invite as a potential future member.
The purpose of this meeting is to invite those interested in learning about Rotary. It is an opportunity to showcase what we are all about and increase our membership.
To help with recruitment, we are offering a provisional membership for 3 months (lower cost) so potential members can check us out before committing to a full membership. Please continue to reach out to the people Don Drost helped us to identify and any others you think might be interested.
- BELL RINGING We will be setting up our Bell Ringing schedule in the next couple weeks - please look at your calendar for a time/location that you would like to fill in to help us out! If you have a preference to date/location, please let me know!!
- RUBY'S PANTRY - Volunteer Opportunity on SATURDAY, Dec. 17 at 7:00 AM. We will meet at the Ruby's Pantry Delivery location at The Living Water's Church in Cameron (on the east side of Hwy SS 2 blocks before the lights). Dress for working outside. Please let Don know if you can attend. Would like as many as possible to join in! Thanks Don for coordinating.

MUST READS/TO DOS
1. Mass emails – I abhor mass emails but I will be sending out 2 this week to all district members. One is about the Mid-Term Conference/Training coming up on Saturday January 7th. It will be fast, fun, and informative. Please encourage your members to attend. The second is about our Searching for Service radio show/podcast – how to tune in, how to get in on the ground floor for advertising. Check it out. Sundays at 3pm and the podcast
2. Succession – The key to a successful program, organization, action is succession planning. Cool how “success” is the root of both words. If your club has not yet named a president for 2023-24, make this a priority. The more training the PE (president elect) gets, the easier their year. The more they work by your side now, the easier their year (and yours). The next short, sweet, and sensational training for PEs is this Thursday, Dec 1st.
3. Tri-District Conference – I realize that April 29th is a long long ways away. However, it’s being held at Madden’s Resort and the rooms are limited and as they book up, the cost of the rooms goes up. Personally I’m going up on Friday and leaving on Sunday. It is true that the actual conference will run from 9-4 and you could just come for the day. But if you want to bring your family, play golf, hob knob with friends, then getting a room is the way to go. You can cancel your reservation up to 30 days before the conference and get everything back but $25. Bottomline, encourage your members to get their rooms now. SNAG – Madden’s has a whole new event crew. We are working hard at it but they went from saying people could stay for just one night to requiring a 2 night stay. Hopefully I will have good news coming soon.
INTERESTING OPPORTUNITIES
1. Helping Ukraine – As of last week the RI disaster fund is out of funds for Ukraine. They had earmarked 15 million dollars and it has all been allocated. That does not mean that their aren’t opportunities to help. Here are two
a. Attachment 1 – a letter from Vitelli Lesko, the District Governor from D2232 (Ukraine), asking people to donate via their GoFund Me page. https://gofund.me/b26325bb It is going to be a long cold winter for the people of Ukraine.
b. Plea #2 – District 5650 (Iowa) led by DG Barb Bartle is raising funds to take supplies to orphanages in Ukraine. They need the donations by Dec 5th to have the supplies there by Dec 19th – St. Nicholas Day. Please click here and read more
2. Foreign Delegations come to District 5960 – Three clubs in our district submitted proposals to Open World to host young business people from Eastern Europe and they were selected. Yippee!!!! If you would like to be involved, please contact the clubs directly. Many hands make light work.
a. Waseca – will be hosting a group from Moldova with the emphasis on Agrotourism in April from the 21st-29th.
b. Mankato and St Paul – together these two clubs will be hosting a group from Poland with an emphasis on Academia and Business from 28 Jul – 5 Aug.
3. Ride for India – Want to see India from an unusual perspective? Join D3130 for the Motorcycle/Drive in January 2023. Please see the attachment for more information. This raises funds for TRF, forms long lasting bonds, and shows you a side of India few experience. There is an option to drive in a 4 wheeled vehicle so you don’t have to be a motorcyclist to participate. www.rideforrotary.com
Jan 7th – Mid-term Conference – Hamlin University – 9-12 - Save the date.
Dec 1st - Pre-PETS 2 – next training, don’t miss out. Make sure your PE attends. Make sure you have a PE. (oh so important, you don’t want to be President for a second year, or maybe you do?)
Nov 30th – Membership Team meeting with Alex Johnson. You do not want to miss this. Alex is from Plano, Texas and took his club from 21 to 63 members in 1 year. That’s correct 1 year. It has to do with making Rotary accessible, visible, and service oriented. Please register in advance for the meeting.
