Our District Radio Show and Podcast (in conjunction with District 5950) started today, Sunday Oct 16th. Hosted by Kelly and Joe from the Edina club it is everything Rotary but with the focus being on service. The podcast is called Searching for Service and can be found at your favorite podcast site. I do believe the podcast should be available by Monday. Here is the deal. I need you to tune in. The radio show is live on Sundays at 3pm on 950 AM
The Progressive Voice of Minnesota. If you can pick it up on your radio then click the link and stream it live. As soon as we can work it out, we will have a link to the podcast from the district website. Feel free to add it to your club website as well. Would you like to support this effort? You can by being a sponsor or advertiser. You can "buy" a 30-60 second slot for $50 a week. You write or let the radio people write it for you. Read it yourself, have a host read it, or the radio station will have one of their readers record it. Either way you get your name out there for a pittance.

If you use one and you do not find them to be worthwhile, motivating, informative, inspiring, please let me know so that I can take them off the list. Remember you are not limited to local speakers. With zoom you can have speakers from around the world.

World Polio Day 2022 and Beyond - As we discussed last week Rotary has a seat at the UN in Geneva Switzerland. There is a large meeting between WHO, RI, and the UN looking at our continued commitment to ending polio but also where we go after that. The next big push is maternal/fetal health. If you are in Switzerland, you can attend for free. If you can't make it in person, you can register to zoom in. This is very cool. Click the link and register

Pick a video from Rotary.org under brand center and start your meeting with an uplifting story. They have great videos

1. Deano Pape - Deano Pape is president of Austin Rotary and has a talk that he is happy to deliver to area Rotary clubs called The 100 Hour Day: Welcome to Your Cellphone. He does an exercise with the audience that measures their technology consumption and discusses the effects of our social media and cellphone engagement. He also tailors his talk to specific requests, such as effects on our personal relationships, productivity in the workplace, education, political polarization, and/or post-lockdown uses of technology and where we go from here. Oct 25th – Day After - World
Polio Day -
Stillwater Sunrise Rotary Club has the good fortune of having Rotary's polio expert,
Mike McGovern, for its program on October 25th, the day after World Polio Day. Mike is a past Vice President of Rotary International and a Past Vice Chair of the Rotary Foundation.
Mike is the current volunteer chair of the Rotary International PolioPlus Committee, providing strategic direction to Rotary's polio eradication program. He represents Rotary on the Polio Strategy Committee of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. He is responsible for working with Rotary leaders worldwide and Rotary staff in raising over $100 million each year and advocating governments and others to contribute sufficient additional funds to end polio. In his role as Chair of the International PolioPlus Committee, he leads three meetings each year where donated funds, including a double match from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, are distributed to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for projects the Committee members deem in most need.
Mike will provide the most recent information regarding the status of Rotary's top priority - Ending Polio. A lot has happened through the COVID restriction era, and Mike will be able to bring us up to date.
