REMINDER Next Meeting - Thursday, January 9, 2025

Stevies Cafe - 7:00 AM

No Meeting this week!  Happy New Year!

We had our Christmas Party on Dec. 18th.  There were about 15 of us in attendance.  It was a really nice time with some absolutely awesome Briskit by Jason.  We also had delish Cheesy Potatoes, numerous appetizers, and some great beverages.  We played a game (don't say Christmas or Rotary), Jason was in the lead with his sneaky little ways to get people to say the banned words...but he relinquished his Santa's to Cathy Berger.  We were able to raise $200 that Cathy would like split between the Barron Co. Humane Society and the Rice Lake Friends of the Library.  She has requested that the board consider a match from the club.  It was really a fun time visiting.  Many of us were thankful there was no penalty $ collected as we would not have been able to buy our family members Christmas gifts.

The club also had a wonderful turnout for Ruby's pantry.  I think there were at least 10 representing our organization - it was very much appreciated.  Although the weather was cold - it was not windy so that was a good thing.  And we were done by 9:30!  Fast morning for volunteering.  Thanks to everyone who was able to attend.

REMINDER: Clare will still take any donated new hats/mittens for the Free Clinic - bring them to our next meeting.

Thank you to all who helped in ringing bells for the Salvation Army.  Whether you did it on your own or through the club - it was appreciated!

OTHER BUSINESS:
Reminder - Board Meeting on Tuesday, Jan.7 - 7:00 am, Subway

We are sad to report that Duana Bremer has resigned as a member.  Her job duties have expanded that include more travel to surrounding counties making attendance difficult.  We will miss you Duana - may you and Tom some day get to really retire!

Profit from our two recent fundraisers:
Roses - Collected $6300   Costs $1114.26     Profit:  $5185.74
Bourbon Tasting - Total Profit  $8234.78    Paid out to our non-profits: $1800             Net Profit $6434.78

We are still looking for a new Treasurer starting in July 2025.  Kathy will be retiring and won't have the same technology availability. If you are interested please let her or any board member know now - you can get a LOT of training in ahead of time.

Also, if someone is interested in doing some PR (facebook and/or web page) we could use your help!

NEW BUSINESS

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  • Ruby's Pantry - Next date is Sat. March 15, 2025 - please put it on your calendar.
UPCOMING PROGRAMS:
Reminder we began our trial on the new meeting system of two formal meetings per month and one social event.  The social event will be planned by two club members as part of the meeting host rotation.  Please be flexible and open minded - this is a trial.  You will get information each week - you just need to read the bulletin  ;-) and mark your calendars!  Since the last quarter of the year was not a typical month, will continue trial of this process through the first quarter of 2025 with an evaluation at the end of March.
