Sunrise Rotary Club Update:

REMINDER - Meeting Thurs. Oct. 9, 7:00 AM, at Cabin Coffee

This week we will be hearing tales from the Tuesday Toon ride.  We will also have Mark and Cathy talking about the Foundation - Joe hosts. If you still need Rose Tickets/posters - they will be available.  Please work hard to sell - this is one of our major fund raisers for $ that we can give away to others.  Our goal is to sell 275 dozen this year.  Monika will be bringing two sample Rotary tops if anyone wants to order another.

Last week we reviewed Board Meeting discussions.  Our ByLaws were approved (motion made by Trudy - seconded by Joe).   We reviewed our Spirits and Bourbon Tasting event - all went well and $2075 was donated to the selected charities and after expenses we raised over $5000 in additional monies that we will be able to donate.  Dictionaries were delivered.  NEGU update - event is scheduled for March 27th.  Will be giving a presentation to RI in November.  Also getting letters out for donations from other district Rotary Clubs.  Rose Sales information/tickets and posters were passed out among the members that were there.   Group discussed dates for working at prepping a meal for St. Vinnies and we selected Nov. 24 and Dec. 29th - both Mondays.  We were able to briefly meet in our small groups (Membership, Club Identity, Public Image, Programming/Projects and Club Identity/Health). Discussed scheduling the One Summit Event.  Different format - 45 min. presentation from the district with an activity among the clubs by area (ours will include Hayward, Rice Lake, Sunrise/Cumberland, and Woodland Lakes).  Tentative Date Nov. 13 - time and location TBD.

A couple of other reminders:

1) Big focus to sell roses so we can reach our goal of 275 dozen.  Rose day is October 23rd.

2)  NEGU update! March 27 is our date for the Joy Jar packing event to be held at Bethany Lutheran Church.  We are $1900 away from our goal.  Hoping to surpass so we can pack more jars.

Cumberland Rotary Impact Club Update:

REMINDER - Meeting this week Wednesday (Tomorrow - Oct. 8) 7:00AM  Peter & Annies

This week we will be collecting grocery bags for the NOW backpack program. We will be volunteering once a month to help with the backpacks.  They also have a food pantry for the high schoolers.  On Wednesday Oct. 15th, we will have our Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the Chamber at Nezzies at 5pm.   Entrance fee will be a donation of a personal hygiene product for highschoolers.  We will be packing them that evening.  We will be compiling 3 baskets (School Nurse, Social Worker, and Phy Ed office).  We were able to deliver our dictionaries to the schools last week.

District News:

World Polio Day, 24 October, is fast approaching. If your club isn’t already planning its World Polio Day event, now is the time to begin. Visit Rotary’s Brand Center for End Polio Now resources such as graphics, videos, photos, public relations templates, and more. Additional materials will be added throughout September and October.

After you’ve planned an event, don’t forget to register it. New this year: District- and zone-level events can also be registered, not just club events. Let’s show the world that Rotary’s commitment to polio eradication is stronger than ever!

Respectfully Submitted by:
