Reminding everyone that we have our Social Activity this week - we will be meeting up for BINGO at Buck&Beams in Cameron (1277 20th St. Cameron) around 5:45. Bingo starts at 6pm. I will be there a bit earlier and will order up to three large pizzas on the club. Please let me know via email or text (trudy.kroeger@gmail.com or 715-790-2529) if you plan to attend so I can order correctly. Cost is $1 per Bingo card (on you) dobbers are provided. Also, any drinks or other food is at your cost. Play usually lasts about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Number of games and/or cards you use is entirely up to you. This social activity is brought to you by Trudy and Clare.

Reminder - we have our volunteer activity on Saturday - Ruby's Pantry, meeting at Living Water Church in Cameron at 7:00 am. Usually done by 10:00 am. Please let me know if you plan to attend asap so I can let them know how many to expect.

Our next Thursday morning meeting will be on Thursday, September 26, 7:00 am at Stevie's Cafe. We will get our Rose tickets and information and our speaker is hosted by Jeremy M.

Last week we had a very thought provoking meeting on the topic of Suicide. This was hosted by Clare (Bruce G.). Clare and Marlene G. from the noon club talked about awarenees of and potential resources for suicide prevention. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Many of our lives have been touched by suicide. Clare hosted a forum discussion with the assistance of Marlene. They shared statistics, myths, local resources and take home worksheets with information. This was a very good beginning conversation about this local state, and national epidemic and what we can do. Many things take a village and this is one of them. Thank you Clare and Marlene!

We welcomed new member Tyler Kilcoyne with Skinner Funeral Home! This guy gets 4 stars for new member participation - he jumped in to help with dictionary delivery right away! Thanks Tyler and welcome! More formal intro at a later date.

We had a brief update from the Board Meeting that was held on Sept. 3. The club agreed to support the Kinship/Lake Desair project for $100. Moved by Ana and seconded by Clare - all approved.

Group stayed to prep dictionaries for our Dictionary Delivery Project. We delivered 254 dictionaries throughout Barron Co. Thank you to all who helped with this project! Thanks to Ken for organizing it again.

Remember - Rose sales coming up, will get your tickets/instructions on Sept. 26. Rose Day is Thursday, October 24. Please get your contacts ready!

OLD BUSINESS:

Treasurer Report: No Report that week

BJ, Jim and Jason S. will be completing an audit on our books.

We are still looking for a new Treasurer starting in July 2025. Kathy will be retiring and won't have the same technology availability. If you are interested please let her or any board member know now - you can get a LOT of training in ahead of time.

Bourbon Tasting Event. Dean handed out more tickets to sell. This will be a wonderful event so be sure to support in some way. A couple of reminders:

Date - Thursday, Oct. 17

Location: Church Barn outside of Barron - contract has been signed. The organizations that were agreed upon for donations and support were: Barron Co. Humane Society; Barron Co. Sunrise Rotary Activity Fund; Benjamin's House; Boys and Girls Club; Natures Edge Therapy Center; Pink Ribbon Advocacy; Pregnancy Help Center; and the local Salvation Army.

Event Cost: Food $18 per plate; Site Rental $1200

Tickets $100 pp. Goal is to get 100 invitees. Will be asking everyone to try to sell 10 tickets. We need 30 to break even.

Potential Silent Auction to raise funds so will be looking for donations.

REMEMBER THIS EVENT WILL NEED EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL!! We will need everyone to participate to help pull this off - but it will reap great rewards for our club, reputation, and fund raising. EVERYONE PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! NEW BUSINESS

Reminder on our Club Schedule Adjustment - Reminder that we had a discussion on what would work best for our club meetings, supporting increased participation and attendance. Starting in September we are going to try to follow the model of Meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, Social event on the 3rd Thursday, and a Board meeting on the first Tuesday. There may be adjustments made to this based on things already scheduled and/or holidays. Please review the Upcoming Programs Calendar shown below!!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Ruby's Pantry - Next date is Sat. Sept. 21. That is THIS Saturday - please let me know if you will be there to help out.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS:

September will begin our trial on the new meeting system of two formal meetings per month (Oct. is an exception) and one social event. The social event will be planned by two club members as part of the meeting host rotation. Please be flexible and open minded - this is a trial. You will get information each week - you just need to read the bulletin ;-) and mark your calendars!
